George Conant,
Consultant
Working with people has always been a passion of mine. When, through my involvement in 4-H and coaching youth sports, I recognized the positive impact I could have on young people, I made the decision to leave my family dairy farm for a career in education.
After obtaining my K-8 teaching certificate while working as an Ed Tech in Special Education, my first teaching assignment transitioning students from a middle school to high school special needs program. After three years in a third-grade teaching position, I relocated to southern Maine and taught middle school alternative education for one year before accepting a sixth-grade position that I held for thirteen years.
To affect a wider impact, I pursued my administrative certificate and served as an assistant principal for the next eight years. During this time, I implemented Restorative Practices in my school and saw first-hand the significant impact this change in approach makes.
After 25 years in the schools, I have been providing trainings and consulting with schools across the State of Maine. After seeing all the positive results Restorative Practices has provided educators and students, this has become a true passion of mine.
“George’s approach of getting to know our district as a whole, supporting our needs rather than his own agenda has led to high staff engagement. He is extremely responsive to any request that is made of him and is seen as a resource.
